The Vision of an Open Media Space in Salzburg.
In an age where media diversity and participatory communication are becoming increasingly important, FS1 – Freies Fernsehen Salzburg stands as a sucessful example of community media in Austria.
I am still playing a key role in shaping the development and direction of the broadcaster.
The Founding of FS1
FS1 was launched in 2012 (Pre-Role since 2010), initiated by me as Radiofabrik managing director, led along with Markus Weisheitinger-Herrmann .
The goal was to create a platform that would allow civil society to produce and broadcast their own content – independent, uncensored, and diverse.
I am still taking on the role of commercial director and ensure the organizational and financial stability of the station.
FS1 – Right now
FS1 has developed into a key player in Austria’s media landscape. With community-based TV.-formats and the introduction of FairPay structures, the station sets benchmarks for innovation and social responsibility.
My vision of an open, participatory media space combined with journalistic quality remains the guiding principle in FS1’s ongoing development.
In a media world often dominated by commercial interests, FS1 offers an alternative based on participation, diversity, and independence – a model that resonates far beyond the borders of Salzburg.
